Sustainability overview
One of our key strategic priorities is to deliver our business responsibly and sustainably:
- how we engage, motivate and support our people
- how we manage our environmental impact
- how we ensure good governance and manage risk
- how we support the communities in which we work
As we grow UBM, particularly in new countries, it is important that we do so in a positive way. I am pleased to report that in the feedback from our first global employment engagement survey our commitment to corporate responsibility emerged as one of our key strengths as an employer. But we must continue to develop, innovate and progress to ensure we deliver our business responsibly.
Over the past few years we have been shifting our community focus away from more passive philanthropic activities to more active engagement, looking to bring our expertise to bear in how we serve the communities in which we operate. Our focus and energy is now in areas where we believe we can make a significant contribution, particularly our flagship NGO Events, which allow us to harness our resources and the expertise of our employees to make a real difference
We recognise that Board support and engagement is also crucial and remuneration policy for senior management is aligned with stakeholders’ interests. For that reason, bonus targets for senior management include measures aimed at developing and progressing CR activity and both myself and Bob Gray have bonus targets linked to improved CR performance.
